At least.

It’s the first plate issued in Queensland and one of the most valuable in Australia.

Kinja'd!!!

The owner is Stefan Ackerie who is the CEO of a chain of hairdressing salons.

Yep.  Spending any money on custom plates is typically dumb.  It’s a government requirement not something to customize

I think it’s cool. M ore fun than keeping the money in an account. It’s not something that can be damaged or stolen or broken. I t just sits on display and collects value for you while meaning absolutely nothing to most people that see it . I swerved at an intersection to get the photo.

A personalized plate is interesting. Be it a display of personality or a pun. Mine for example is G3NGAR and goes with the theme of my car. Paying to have #1 is a deep embedded insecurity to be the best and a need to be seen as #1, even if it just means paying for it.

Custom plates is cool. Something amusing or unique sure. But having to pay to be #1?

Wow, in my state, 1 is reserved for the governor’s car. I think 4 is the lowest one owned by a private citizen, not sure what it’s worth, but  so meone paid something like $700k to get 6 awhile ago.

Why have a CLS63 when you can have a C 200, why have a Mercedes at all? Having nice things is nice. And if you have the means t his is a solid investment.

It’s specifically the fact that it’s a government requirement that makes it worth customizing. You can choose your car and customize every aspect of it and then the government stamps a random number on it—why not choose it if you can? I’d be pissed if the government started stamping bar codes on every citizen’s forehead but I’d damn sure pay to choose what mine said if I could.

Also, monetizing personalized plates is a brilliant revenue stream for the state—a completely optional tax that helps keep others’ road and transport taxes lower.

Because the CLS63 is a monster and physically out performs the c200 in every metric. Having a #1 license plate is just a number with virtual value. The #1 isn't any faster than #2 or #500. The CLS63 is real world faster than the c200

Too bad the Queensland lookup site isn’t as detailed as the UK one, it’s fun to see the MOT failures for things. I do think “COMMERCIAL” use is a bit dubious, but I assume it fits within the letter of the law.

The current Q8 looks more normal (though identical certificate numbers and odometers is odd) :

I love this tool. Being able to l ook up the VIN is so convenient.

And hat m ust have been a glitch. Q8 looks normal to me now

Maybe some weirdness from looking up multiple vehicles then.

I do really like that you can see the MOT history for UK things though:
